Apture (try the links on their page!), maybe is ahead of it's time or, just at the right time waiting for mass-adoption. Apture is a very useful add-on towards the blogosphere, but in general it can be used at any place that could use rich and enhancing data.
I like the idea, it fits the knowledge-side of the internet, and that is one of the ways I feel the internet should be. Connecting dots in new ways, with the rich media oportunities the internet provides. Apture has built a great addon for websites with a unobtrusive and pleasent look-and-feel, and the idea.. well.. even Apple thought the internet could be this as well (5 min. video).

Although Microsoft lost my support several years ago (arrogance, dominance, lack of innovativeness, etc.), I must admit I was very surprised when seeing 'The story of the Ribbon'. The video shows they are really making an effort into trying new ways for user experience in their interface(s). Some of the GUI examples in the video are quite interessting!

The GUI-stuff starts at about 36mins.
